Maksut Askar of Neolokal and Eugeniy Vikentev of Hamlet + Jacks

On June 8th, during the international gastronomic festival St. Petersburg Gourmet Days, restaurant Hamlet + Jacks will host a take-over by Turkish chef Maksut Askar of the restaurant Neolokal, which has had success in all different kinds of world congresses in the past few years.

Maksut Askar is the chef and owner of the restaurant Neolokal, and he is a representative of the new generation of chefs who open gastronomic traditions of contemporary Turkey to the world. He claims there is no «Turkish cuisine»; he prefers the more encompassing term «Anatolian cuisine». In his mind, Anatolian cuisine represents his mother’s recipes and forgotten tastes from childhood, which are often overlooked. Neolokal’s menu is built on an interesting array of ingredients found in the markets of Istanbul. Maksut spends a lot of time learning about spices and products from all around Turkey and also gives a lot of special attention to working with farmers. At the heart of his menu are the traditional tastes he recreates as a culture heritage, and new shapes correlating with latest international trends.

In Hamlet + Jacks, Mascut Askar together with chef Eugeniy Vikentev will present a set menu out of the hits of Neolokal. Pairing with single-malt Scottish 12 year old whisky, The Singleton, will also be offered.

The event starts at 7:00 p.m.

The price of the tasting menu: 4 900 roubles.
